The high torque load on an e-bike wears out the chain much faster than on a traditional bike. Why? Because of the instantaneous power surges generated by the motor. This extra pressure on the chain and chainrings results in more friction, and therefore more metal-on-metal contact, which inevitably leads to wear… especially if you're not using the right lubricant.
Our e-bike lubricants have been designed precisely to counter this: a unique blend of synthetic oils, a high concentration of tailor-made additives, and boron nitride – all to reduce friction, extend the life of your drivetrain, even under heavy loads.
Does using an eBike lubricant allow the chain to wear out as slowly as on a normal bicycle?
Using our eBike lubricant will significantly reduce friction during your rides and keep your chain running smoothly much longer than with a conventional lubricant. That said, the mechanical stresses are always greater on an electric bike, so wear will still be faster than on a regular bike.
Is the lubrication interval the same?
No. We recommend cleaning and relubricating your chain as often as possible – ideally after every ride. This is the best way to extend the life of your chain and its components, which can be expensive to replace.
What is boron nitride, and what is it used for?
Boron nitride is an advanced particle that we incorporate into our lubricant. It offers exceptional wear resistance, superior lubrication, and forms a stable protective layer (called a tribofilm), essential for the specific performance required of an e-bike lubricant.
